Has anyone built their own patch antenna?

Adam 9A4QAV BUILDING AND TESTING AN L-BAND PATCH ANTENNA FOR INMARSAT-C RECEPTION

…and then took Adam 9A4QAV’s patch antenna, added a director and posted it…
Thingverse mashup of 9A4QAV patch antenna with additional director

Any successes? Has anyone seen what it does on a VNA? What’s the return loss look like? Smith Chart?

Does anyone have a performance report? Pictures?

What materials did you use?
What was the spacing from the driven element to the director you used?
What connectors did you use?
Did you ground all three elements together in the middle?
What additional hardware did you use?

I believe the basic design is good. It needs to be cost-reduced.

Sure. I made one from cardboard and aluminum foil, +a jumper with SMA.

Worked fine. We Moved!
