I read about this experiment on the www.amsat.org mailing list.
It was performed by Robert Bruninga WB4ARP. He replaced the
chip antenna with a simple full sized wire dipole and quadrupled the
WiFi range. They have a lot of intrest on the amsat mailing list.

I bet this could also work with the CHIP.
