Coverage in South America, is it available?

I was reading that among the plans of 2019 was to give coverage to South America and that they had launched satellites for that in January or February of this year, could I already dust off my dreamcatcher and use it here?

@Martin We stopped accepting orders from European customers because of the problems with the signal. We’re manufacturing a new front end that can better track the narrower carrier. As I mentioned earlier, we may be pausing the SES4 for about a month until the new LNBs are available (and happy to provide you with a refund during that time).

excellent, I ask for novice, the ses-2 I can not see it for being in the United States, however, if I update the firware of the board (dreamcatcher) is it possible that I can connect using the ses-4, with coverage in my area?

At this time, Simon, I don’t believe SES-4’s Europe beam is operational. Othernet did not have a beam up on SES-4’s North America or Southern cone that I could find.

I have worked SES-2 off the North West coast of Cuba in the Caribbean, and got good results. But it doesn’t cover Central and South America - - only Mexico. Ken

@djleoli I’m sorry, there are no plans to provide coverage in Central or South America. We are actually discontinuing the North American and European broadcasts at the end of 2024. The cost of the broadcast is too large and the revenue from Dreamcatcher sales is too small.

It is a shame to read what you say, but understandable, if sales cannot support this, what you say is understandable. I hope one day a similar project can survive. I am also very grateful to othernet these years it gave me many ideas and a lot of knowledge. Also, if possible, when this is closed, you can leave the source code of the software, manuals and data on how the equipment connected to the satellites, in case in the future someone wants to continue testing with this and thank you very much!
