Does the Latern report received signal strength indication (RSSI)?
This is absolutely necessary for dish aiming. Yes, analog satellite RSSI meters are available on ebay for about US$12. But, why require additional hardware?

Not sure if it’s usable for the scenario you mention, but it will have 4 LEDs for indicating signal strenght.
