Idea: A small app that would push out truncated data to a LED scrolling sign. Possibly a list of Cities and temperatures high/low - rain/snow/cloud/etc… toss in some randomly selected news feed titles.
Ideally you could select what cities, topics you want and keywords, “ORD, LAX, LON, president, disaster” etc…
I know most of the old signs used serial. New, USB. I would think it would be fairly simple to do and a cool way to display received data without dedicating a whole monitor.
You could even dedicate a few pixels in a corner to show the state of the receiver: Frame Locked, received content in the last hour, etc.
