the RTL-SDR V3 dongles running std-c excellent, tested for weeks, even heated up the stuff from 10W resistors for stress test, was working fine. :smiling_imp:

Away from the house all day and will get back to this tomorrow. I don’t have a site to which I could send it for your access. It’s not a large file - maybe email?

I was surprised that we couldn’t find the installer anywhere. Some of the other related files are still around: station list, manual.

I know, I have found everything else for it LOL!

You could upload it to https://fromsmash.com/ and then post the link for the file here… (mods permitting!)
That needs no registration and you don’t need to give any emails etc, ( although it will try to get them from you LOL! Just go past that stuff) and it will give you a link after you have uploaded the file… The link expires after a few days.

I use it when i need to send any big files to my son in Australia

Finally remembered that I joined the navtexdx Yahoo Group a few years ago, but haven’t been an active navtex DXer for some time. In the files area they have YaND setup v. 6.4 (April 6, 2014) as well as the v6 Manual and a fairly recent stations list updated by one of the members. This is affiliated with the NDBlist group. You may be aware of their info website http://www.ndblist.info/

Navtex DX is active with 300 plus members. I could still take the other approach of uploading my copy to the site you mentioned. However, joining the group is probably more satisfactory - easier access to the software and it’s instructive to read the posts many of which are loggings and give an idea of other DX-ers’ results - probably the majority from Europe.

Recently began monitoring and feeding railroad code-line activity in our region on VHF (using an SDRPlay RSP-1). The software to do this is also only made available through a Yahoo Group. Seems to be a trend ?

sigh…
yet another group to join with a fake yahoo account, nothing gets on my goat more than being forced into something like that when I don’t want to… …

I have a list of about 25 such groups the vast majority of which I rarely if ever visit. Yahoo Groups web interface also is terrible.

But on the other hand free software is nice…

For what it’s worth, I got a look at sample data from the tdma-paid version. Interesting stuff.

So why do they bother forcing “junk” members? Sigh … I must have 100 forgotten Yahoo accounts

All of mine are under one account…

ANTI PIRACY SITREP MSG: P018/2017

THIS MSG IS BROADCAST BY THE 24HOUR MANNED IMB PIRACY REPORTING CENTRE (IMB PRC). THE IMB PRC CAN BE CONTACTED FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD BY MASTERS REQUIRING ASSISTANCE AND TO REPORT ANY INCIDENT OF PIRACY OR ARMED ROBBERY ON. TEL: +60 3 2078 5763 FAX: +60 3 2078 5769, E-MAIL: [email protected] / [email protected]. THE CENTRE’S 24 HOURS ANTI PIRACY HELPLINE IS: +60 3 2031 0014.

THIS BROADCAST WARNS SHIPS OF PIRACY AND ARMED ROBBERY PRONE AREAS IN WATERS OF EAST AFRICA, THE INDIAN SUB CONTINENT, SOUTH EAST AND EAST ASIA.

WARNINGS/OVERVIEW:
SOMALI PIRACY
ATTACKS RELATED TO SOMALI PIRATES HAVE GREATLY REDUCED. HOWEVER, THE RISK OF BEING APPROACHED OR ATTACKED STILL EXISTS. VESSELS ARE ADVISED AND ENCOURAGED TO REMAIN VIGILANT AND COMPLY WITH ALL BMP4 PROCEDURES. THE THREAT OF THESE ATTACKS STILL EXIST IN THE WATERS OFF SOUTHERN RED SEA / BAB EL MANDEB, GULF OF ADEN, INCLUDING YEMEN AND THE NORTHERN SOMALI COAST, ARABIAN SEA / OFF OMAN, GULF OF OMAN AND OFF THE EASTERN, AND SOUTHERN SOMALI COAST. IN THE PAST VESSELS HAVE BEEN ATTACKED OFF KENYA, TANZANIA, SEYCHELLES, MADAGASCAR, MOZAMBIQUE AS WELL AS IN THE INDIAN OCEAN AND OFF THE WEST AND SOUTH COASTS OF INDIA AND WEST MALDIVES. INCIDENTS HAVE ALSO BEEN REPORTED CLOSE TO THE EAST AFRICAN COASTLINES.

SOMALI PIRATES TEND TO BE WELL ARMED WITH AUTOMATIC WEAPONS AND RPG AND SOMETIMES USE SKIFFS LAUNCHED FROM MOTHER VESSELS, WHICH MAY BE HIJACKED FISHING VESSELS OR DHOWS, TO CONDUCT ATTACKS FAR FROM THE SOMALI COAST. IT IS ADVISED TO MONITOR, KEEP CLEAR OF ALL SMALL BOATS AND REPORT ALL SUSPICIOUS SIGHTINGS. SHIPS ARE ALSO ADVISED TO MONITOR THE IMB PRC WARNINGS THAT ARE TRANSMITTED VIA INMARSAT SAFETY NET SYSTEM. A STRICT 24HR VISUAL AND RADAR WATCH WILL ENSURE EARLY DETECTION AND ASSESSMENT OF AN APPROACHING THREAT AND ALLOW MASTERS TO RESPOND AS ADVISED IN BMP4 AND AS PER THEIR COMPANY PROCEDURES. MASTERS ARE REMINDED THAT FISHERMEN IN THIS REGION MAY TRY TO PROTECT THEIR NETS BY ATTEMPTING TO AGGRESSIVELY APPROACH MERCHANT VESSELS. SOME OF THE FISHERMEN MAY BE ARMED TO PROTECT THEIR CATCH AND THEY SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED WITH PIRATES.

SOUTH CHINA SEA AND SURROUNDING WATERS - A NUMBER OF HIJACKINGS HAVE BEEN REPORTED SINCE APRIL 2014. PIRATES TARGETING SMALL PRODUCT TANKERS USUALLY BELOW 6000 GRT CARRYING GAS OIL OR DIESEL OIL OR LUBE OIL CARGOES. ONCE HIJACKED, PIRATES FORCED SHIP CREW TO SAIL TO UNKNOWN LOCATION WHERE ANOTHER UNKNOWN TANKER WILL COME ALONGSIDE TO STEAL THE OIL CARGO. VESSELS ARE REMINDED TO MAINTAIN STRICT ANTI PIRACY WATCH AND REMAIN VIGILANT. GENERALLY SUCCESSFUL HIJACKING REQUIRES PIRATES TO ATTACK BY SURPRISE. PIRATES NORMALLY ARMED WITH GUNS AND KNIVES. RECENTLY THESE HIJACKINGS HAVE STOPPED DUE TO THE ARREST OF SUSPECTED CRIMINALS IN MALAYSIA AND INDONESIA. THE IMB PRC IS MONITORING THE SITUATION.

INDIAN COAST GUARD ADVISORY:
INDIAN AUTHORITIES ADVISORY INDICATED THAT DENSE FISHING ACTIVITY MAY BE ENCOUNTERED OFF THE WEST COAST OF INDIA. GENERALLY LOCAL FISHING BOATS EQUIPPED WITH OUTBOARD MOTOR WITH ABOUT FOUR OF FIVE FISHERMEN MAY CAST THEIR NETS UP TO 50NM OR MORE FROM COAST. MERCHANT VESSELS APPROACHING THE FISHING NETS MAY ENCOUNTER FISHERMEN TRYING TO PROTECT THEIR NETS BY CHASING AWAY THE MERCHANT VESSELS. THESE FISHERMEN SHOULD NOT BE MISTAKEN FOR SOMALI PIRATES OR PAGS IN SKIFFS. MASTERS SHOULD REPORT ANY SUSPICIOUS BOATS TO MRCC MUMBAI /INDIAN COAST GUARD OR NAVY AND IMB PRC. IF POSSIBLE PHOTOGRAPHS SHOULD BE TAKEN.

IMB PRC - INDONESIAN MARINE POLICE ADVISORY:
THE INDONESIAN MARINE POLICE AND IMB CONTINUE TO COOPERATE TO DISCUSS VARIOUS ISSUES. SHIPS ARE ADVISED TO MAINTAIN STRICT ANTI PIRACY WATCHES IN INDONESIAN WATERS PARTICULARLY DURING THE NIGHT. PIRATES IN THESE WATERS WILL NORMALLY ABORT ANY ATTEMPTED ATTACK ONCE SPOTTED BY CREW MEMBERS AND ALARM SOUNDED.

INDONESIAN MARINE POLICE LATEST ADVISORY - INDONESIAN MARINE POLICE ADVISE ALL SHIPS INTENDING TO ANCHOR TO DO SO AT/NEAR THE FOLLOWING AREAS WHERE INDONESIAN MARINE POLICE WILL CONDUCT PATROLS. DUE TO LIMITED ASSETS, IT IS EASIER FOR THEM TO CONDUCT PATROLS AND KEEP THE MENTIONED AREA SAFE IF ALL VESSELS ARE IN THE SAME LOCATION.

  1. BELAWAN AT POSITION : 03:55.00N-098:45.30E
  2. DUMAI AT POSITION : 01:42.00N-101:28.00E

  6. GRESIK AT POSITION : 07:09.00S-1AYSIAN MARITIME ENFORCEMENT AGENCY ADVISORY:
IN VIEW OF HIJACKINGS OF OIL TANKERS IN THE SOUTH CHINA SEA IN THE PAST, SHIPS ARE ADIVSED TO MAINTAIN A VIGILANT ANTI PIRACY WATCH. THE MALAYSIAN AUTHORITIES HAVE DEPLOYED MORE PATROL VESSELS AND HELICOPTERS IN THE AREA. VESSELS ARE TO REPORT ALL ACTUAL AND ATTEMPTED ATTACKS AND SUSPICIOUS SIGHTINGS ESPECIALLY VESSELS WITHOUT AIS POSITION AND BEHAVING SUSPICIOUSLY TO THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND THE IMB PIRACY REPORTING CENTRE IMMEDIATELY SO THAT THE AUTHORITIES CAN RESPOND.

IMB PRC ADVISORY:
GENERAL ADVISORY FOR SHIPS TRANSITING CELEBES SEA / SULU SEA / OFF EASTERN SABAH / OFF SIBUTU ISLAND, TAWI TAWI, PHILIPPINES. IN VIEW OF THE RECENT KIDNAPPING INCIDENTS, VESSELS ARE ADVISED TO AVOID THIS AREA IF POSSIBLE AND SHOULD CONSIDER USING THE ROUTE WEST OF KALIMANTAN / WEST SIDE OF SABAH / SARAWAK / FAR WEST OR EAST OF PHILIPPINES AWAY FROM SIBUTU WATERS.
PAST KIDNAPPING INCIDENTS INVOLVED TUGS AND FISHING BOATS ONLY BUT LATELY MERCHANT SHIPS ARE TARGETTED ALSO.

All-CAPS arghh… even though it is encoded in IA5.
It reminds of the old days of TELEX (TELETYPE) although later models here had All-lowercase
for much better readability.

it is safety it needs to be SHOUTED LOL!!
It is definitely a hang-over from baudot 5 bit code. I used to fix old Sieman’s mechanical Teletype machines - They didn’t even have lower case on the type bars originally

Oh yes! Worked on kleinschmidt TT-98, TT7etc. Perf and reperf. Even the model 19s. Then on to the Teletype model 28 series and 33 series. If I remember the 33s went to ascii. The older units were 45 baud at 60wpm. 110v 20ma current loop serial could give you a nice zap too! Nothing like the sound of a 20 mil selector relay clacking away. Only took hours to print a Playboy poster using only chars X and O.

I tried to find a carrier that would decode with tekmanoid at 98W. Has anyone been successful or is it not present at that satellite? If so which satellite should I point at? I am at 33N 117W.
BTW, I was able to run tekmanoid on my Mac. The trick was to rename the .exe to .jar and use
java -jar egcdecoder.jar tekmanoid.DecoderMVC
to start the app. That should also work for Linux.
Thanks
