Will Outernet also provide free wifi to the airplane?

Would Outernet also provide free wifi services to the passengers on the airplane? As right now in the us, GoGo is proving paid inflight wifi.

Not without some seriously great receiver gear or an antenna mounted outside of the aircraft’s steel hull.

MoonShadow is correct. An aircraft’s hull probably does a great job of keeping signal out. But now I’m wondering what could be received if a small SDR was brought on board. Receive-only, of course.

I know that gps signals work… ahem for logging altitude and speed only of course and adhoc wifi chatting… are there some nice new USB SDR units that can listen at the range of outernet and do they need an external antenna?
