I bought a longer SMA cable. Marginal loss penalty (3’ will be my final length - I"m using 2’ cable and the original SMA cable attached together. The additional 5" length of the final 3’ cable will be offset by not having the SMA coupler between two lengths as in this setup.
and yes, yes, yes, there is an insulating platform under the board so it ain’t touching the metal thingie below.
